The time is short. We have been intentionally placed here in this moment in history to fulfill the calling of God on our lives. We are living in the age that the bible refers to as the age of lawlessness, and the Word speaks about it very clearly. If you look up in the Bible the 2nd book of Timothy chapter two you will read about what we are experiencing today.

As believers in Jesus how are we to live in such times? How are we to “be” when we see very clearly, all around us, the demise of a nation and a people who have been a beacon of hope to the world. Lives and livelihoods are being destroyed. The intentional tearing down, brick by brick and crisis after crisis is evident like never before.

Nothing that has happened has taken God by surprise. Matter of fact, He has allowed it. This might be a surprise for some and a hard pill to swallow but if you believe God is sovereign and in complete control of kings and kingdoms then He’s got this too. His ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts. He is in charge and on the throne. He is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning, and the End. He is ruler of both heaven and earth.

What are we to do when we see chaos, violence, injustice, abuse in many forms, hate, destruction, indecency, lies, and more lies? There are days I have no words for the things that I have seen take place in my lifetime. I walk around shaking my head. I don’t even have much of a reaction anymore. I can’t afford (emotionally) to spend my energy on the ludicrous, lawless, and lascivious conduct of many individuals who say wrong is right and right is wrong. God help us all. We need the Lord now more than ever before.

So how do we live through what every believer in Jesus would consider unstable and perilous times? How can we bring hope and be hope to a perishing world?

-We gird our loins with the truth of God’s word.

-We take up the shield of faith to protect our heart.

-We put on the helmet of salvation to protect our mind.

-We buckle the belt of truth around our waist and take up the sword of the Spirit to stand on God’s word and His ways.

-And then … we stand – we stand in the boots readied and fit for the gospel of the good news of Jesus Christ.

If you take a moment and jump over to the book of Matthew chapter twenty-four you will see the unveiling of what is happening in our world. It is right there in plain sight before your eyes. You will see it on the pages of scripture and in your favorite news source. It is happening in real time.

Lovers of Jesus don’t shrink back, and do not be afraid. Do not allow the spirit of fear, and it is a spirit, to control and consume you. Do not give it a foothold in your life.

We are His. We belong to the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Let us rejoice that we know Him personally and intimately. He will not abandon us or forsake us. We have been grafted in by the grace and goodness of God through Jesus Christ.

Sisters and Brothers in Jesus the time is near – the birth pains are coming faster and faster. Let’s breathe deeply, slowly and often. Let’s be calm. Let’s pray. Let’s fast. Let’s love others with the same love that God has given us when he rescued us from ourselves.
